Department of Pharmaceutics

The department has sophisticated instruments such as probe sonicator, Motic image integrator & research microscope, semi automated dissolution apparatus, refrigerated super centrifuge, spectrophotometer, etc. A fully air-conditioned Nanomedicine Research Center has also been established within the department. Industrial Pharmacy manufacturing units I & II have been constructed as per FDA recommendations and GMP guidelines for parenteral and non-parenteral formulations. The main researches focus on Nanodrug delivery system for cancer and Advanced drug delivery systems for targeting various diseases.

Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry

The main research works of the department are on conventional synthetic chemistry for lead identification. The other work includes development and validation of analytical methods for pharmaceuticals. The main aim of the research team is to discover new, safer and effective drugs.

Department of Pharmacognosy & Phytochemistry

The department is well equipped with modern facilities to carry out research work in the area of Phytochemistry and Natural Products. Presently, the research works mainly focus on screening of natural products for Anti-diabetic, Antihperlipidimic, Hepatoprotective and Anti-inflammatory activities and standardization of herbal drugs using modern techniques including HPLC. Some of the faculty members are also working on Isolation, Characterization and estimation of Phytochemicals from natural products. Digital microscope, projection microscope, Binocular Microscope, Hot Air Oven, Microtome, Clevenger Apparatus, Soxhlet Apparatus and Muffle furnace are some of the equipments available in the laboratory. The department is also maintaining an herbal garden of 1 acre with more than 60 medicinally important plant species.

Department of Pharmacology

The department is well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including langendorff Isolated Heart Perfusion System, Two Channel Physiograph Unit, Double Unit Student Organ bath, Morries Water Maze, Elevated Plus Maze, Actophotometer, Tail Flick Unit, Analgesiometer, Rota-Rod Apparatus, etc. The department is actively involved in the identification of novel pharmacological target sites in the area of Ischemia/reperfusion-induced myocardial injury, Myocardial ischemic preconditioning, Pharmacological preconditioning, Ischemic post conditioning, Pharmacological post conditioning, Cardiomyopathy, Hypertension, Hyperlipidemia, Vascular endothelial dysfunction, Diabetic nephropathy and Dementia. A well equipped CPCSEA certified animal house has been maintained by the Department of Pharmacology. The Department follows stringent guidelines of CPCSEA for conducting animal experiments and animal house maintenance. Necessary software’s are available with the department for performing Satistical Analysis of data obtained from animal experiments. Taken together, the Department of Pharmacology is well-equipped to train the undergraduate and postgraduate students by International standards.
